The wait is over! It's time to hit the ground running and begin our quest for the IPL 2024 title in Gazab Andaz. 

Our first mission takes us to Jaipur to face Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Sunday. The afternoon fixture begins at 3:30 PM IST.

After missing the second half of the last season due to injury, KL Rahul is back to lead us on the field and the boys are raring to celebrate kaptaan’s return with a big win.

Experienced gloveman Quinton de Kock and Rahul have been part of many memorable opening stands but the addition of Devdutt Padikkal and the availability of Kyle Mayers, who took IPL by storm last year, means we are spoilt for choices at the top.

Padikkal joined us from RR for IPL 2024 and may be up for his LSG debut against his former team.  

While there’s plenty of room to shuffle things around, Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni are expected to play key roles in the middle order. All-rounders Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya will also be available for selection for our opener.

Then there’s Naveen-ul-Haq, Shamar Joseph and Shivam Mavi in the bowling department. Not to forget our spin wizard Ravi Bishnoi, whose magic spells often make the opposition batters disappear and then reappear in the dugout.

News from Rajasthan Royals camp

Our run last season ended in the Eliminator after finishing third in the league while the Royals missed out on a place in the playoffs with a fifth-place finish.

Rajasthan Royals’ top order includes Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler. Captain Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel will look to anchor the innings with Rovman Powell and Shimron Hetmyer among their power hitters.

Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal are their key options in the bowling department.

RR vs LSG history

We have played the inaugural champions three times in our brief IPL history. The two results in the IPL 2022 did not go our way but the LSG vs RR match last year saw our boys, led by an all-round performance from Stoinis (21 off 16 and 2/28), pip the Royals by 10 runs after scoring 154/7.

After hopefully making our head-to-head record against the Royals all square nice and early, we head back to our fortress BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium to prepare for our first home game of the season against Punjab Kings on March 30. Have you booked your tickets yet?
