Lucknow Super Giants went down by six wickets against the Mumbai Indians in our ninth match of TATA IPL 2026.

Put in to bat first, the Super Giants delivered a breathtaking start, racing to 141/3 within the first 10 overs. Nicholas Pooran led the charge with a blistering 63 off just 21 deliveries, marking a strong return to form with an innings studded with eight sixes. Mitchell Marsh complemented him well, striking a fluent 44 off 25 as they set the tone with aggressive intent.

The momentum carried forward in the latter half of the innings, with Aiden Markram (31* off 25) and Himmat Singh (40* off 31) stitching together an unbeaten 68-run partnership towards the end. Their composed yet effective stand ensured we finished at a commanding 228/5 in 20 overs, capping off a dominant batting display.

However, defending the total proved challenging. Mumbai Indians’ openers put together a strong 143-run partnership in just 10.5 overs, with both Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton registering half-centuries.

While Mohsin Khan, Manimaran Siddharth and Mohammad Shami managed to pick up wickets in the latter half of the innings, the momentum remained with the hosts.

Mumbai Indians eventually completed the chase in 18.4 overs. Despite an impressive effort with the bat, the Super Giants will look to regroup and find greater balance across departments ahead of our fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 7 at Ekana.
