TATA IPL 2026: LSG vs PBKS report - Defeat at Ekana, curtains fall on a challenging season
We went down by seven wickets against the Punjab Kings at Ekana in our 14th and final match of the TATA IPL 2026 season.
Put in to bat first, Josh Inglis set the tone in style, smashing four boundaries in the very first over to get the scoreboard racing to 16/0. The early momentum was briefly checked at 20/2, but Ayush Badoni walked in and turned the tide with a blistering counterattack.
The youngster played a fearless knock of 43 off just 18 deliveries, smashing five fours and three sixes before an unfortunate dismissal cut his innings short.
Inglis, however, continued to dominate proceedings. He looked in sublime touch, finding the gaps with ease and clearing the ropes with authority. His superb 72 off 44 balls anchored the innings beautifully, reinforcing his fine run of form.
Towards the back end, Abdul Samad provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 37 off 20 deliveries, striking three fours and as many sixes to power the Super Giants to a competitive 196/6.
Defending 196, Mohammad Shami once again delivered an early breakthrough, dismissing Priyansh Arya off the very first ball. He followed it up with another wicket in his next over, removing Cooper Connolly to leave the visitors reeling at 22/2.
However, Punjab Kings regrouped through a strong partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh, who steadily guided the chase forward with a 140-run stand. Despite Arjun Tendulkar breaking the stand, the visitors remained in control and completed the chase in the 18th over, with Iyer bringing up an unbeaten century.
To the LSG Brigade, thank you for standing tall with us through every high and low this season. Your unwavering support has been our backbone. We’ll be back, stronger and hungrier, next year!
