TATA IPL 2026: LSG vs KKR report - On the wrong side of a thriller
Lucknow Super Giants went down in a Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders in our eighth match of TATA IPL 2026.
Opting to field first, the innings was headlined by a sensational spell from Mohsin Khan, who delivered a true masterclass with the ball. The left-arm pacer registered the first five-wicket haul of the season, finishing with outstanding figures of 5/23.
He set the tone early with a wicket-maiden in his opening over, removing Tim Seifert and carried that momentum through the innings. Mohsin went on to dismiss key batters including Ajinkya Rahane, Cameron Green, Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy, consistently breaking partnerships and keeping the opposition in check.
In the 15th over, George Linde added to the effort by claiming his maiden wicket for the Super Giants, dismissing Ramandeep Singh. Overall, it was a disciplined bowling performance that restricted Kolkata Knight Riders to 155/7 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Lucknow Super Giants faced a steady challenge during the chase. Rishabh Pant (42 off 38) and Aiden Markram (31 off 27) stitched together a 57-run stand after an early setback. Despite the efforts, the equation tightened towards the end.
Needing 17 off the final over, late contributions from Himmat Singh and a last-ball six from Mohammad Shami pushed the game into a thrilling Super Over. However, Kolkata Knight Riders held their nerve to clinch the result.
The boys will now look to regroup during the short break before our next fixture against the Mumbai Indians on May 4 at the Wankhede Stadium.
