Biography
Hailing from the city of joy, Kolkata, Yash Thakur, a 24-year-old medium-fast bowler reeks of potential after an impressive performance in the domestic circuit.
Yash made his List A debut in 2017 for Vidarbha against Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and his first-class debut for the same team against Chhattisgarh in the Ranji Trophy next year. This was also followed by his T20 debut for Vidarbha against Himachal Pradesh in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2019.
The talented Kolkata boy turned some heads in the 2021-22 domestic cricket season where he scalped up 18 wickets in 7 matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to end up the leading wicket-taker for Vidarbha. Another stellar performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 saw him take 15 wickets in 10 games to end up on the top of the wicket-taking charts for Vidarbha in the SMAT season (6th highest overall). A testament to his economical bowling in the SMAT includes defending 11 runs in the last over against Uttarakhand in a group game followed by defending 9 runs in the last over in the quarterfinal against Delhi.
Making a name for himself as a death-over specialist, he was signed by Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 mini auction. To add to his memorabilia, he received his IPL debut cap in LSG’s second game of IPL 2023 when he replaced Jaydev Unadkat against Chennai Super Kings. With sky being the limit, all eyes are on Yash Thakur now in what quite rightly is the ‘where talent meets opportunity’ T20 league.
