De Kock made his T20 International debut against New Zealand at Durban in December 2012, before claiming his ODI cap just days later and making his Test debut against Australia at Gqeberha in February 2014. By the time he retired from red-ball cricket to focus on limited-overs formats, he had accumulated 3,300 Test runs at an average of 38.82 with 6 centuries, providing counter-attacking firepower from the middle order.
