59* v CSK
December 3, 1999
Right-handed batter Ayush Badoni, who can bowl occasional off-spin, is one of the game’s youngest high-quality finishers. The budding talent from Delhi produced some impressive performances when he played for India under-19s but went unsold for three years until LSG picked him up in IPL 2022 auctions at the insistence of our team mentor Gautam Gambhir.
Ayush Badoni was quick to repay LSG’s faith by striking a sweet 41-ball 54 against Gujarat Titans on his IPL debut. Eventually, he became the first player to score 50-plus score on his IPL debut while batting at No.6 or below.
Since then, Badoni, who comes from the same stable as Rishabh Pant, has been a regular feature in LSG’s line-up and has scored runs at an average of over 20 despite coming so low down the order.
Ayush Badoni, now 23 years old, will bank on some experience and look to aid LSG’s title hunt in the 2023 season. In first-class cricket, Badoni represents Delhi.
