TATA IPL 2026: LSG vs RR report - Heartbreak on our return in Lucknow
Lucknow Super Giants went down by 40 runs against Rajasthan Royals in our seventh match of TATA IPL 2026.
Deciding to field first, the Super Giants delivered a disciplined and encouraging performance with the ball. Mohammad Shami struck early, removing in-form batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel in the third over to put the opposition under pressure.
The momentum continued in the following over, where Mohsin Khan produced a wicket-maiden, further tightening the screws during the powerplay.
The bowlers maintained control through the innings, with Prince Yadav returning figures of 2/29 and Mohsin Khan finishing with an impressive 2/17. Thanks to a sharp and committed fielding effort, the Rajasthan Royals registered 159/6 in 20 overs.
Chasing 160, the boys looked to build partnerships but found it challenging to keep pace with the required rate. Mitchell Marsh anchored the effort with a determined 55 off 41 deliveries, keeping the side in contention. However, regular wickets meant the chase gradually slipped away.
While the result did not go in our favour, the Super Giants will take positives from a cohesive bowling display and look to build on it as we aim to bounce back in the upcoming fixture against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday, April 26, against whom we recorded a win earlier in the season.
