TATA IPL 2026: SRH vs LSG report - Pant and Co. open account in style
Lucknow Super Giants secured a commanding five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, registering our first win of the TATA IPL 2026 season courtesy of a terrific all-round performance.
Put in to bowl first, the Super Giants wasted no time in making an impact. Mohammad Shami once again set the tone, striking in the very first over to dismiss Abhishek Sharma.
He followed it up with another blow, sending Travis Head back in his next over to remove both openers cheaply. Building on that momentum, Prince Yadav and Digvesh Rathi tightened the screws further, picking up crucial wickets to reduce Sunrisers Hyderabad to 26/4.
While Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy attempted a recovery with a 116-run stand, our Super Giants bowlers held their nerve at the death. Avesh Khan’s brilliant 19th over proved pivotal, as he dismissed Klaasen and Harsh Dubey to halt the opposition’s charge, eventually restricting them to 156/9.
In response, the Super Giants approached the chase with intent and composure. Aiden Markram’s fluent 45 off 27 provided the perfect platform at the top, setting the tone for the innings.
From there on, it was a captain’s knock that took centre stage. Rishabh Pant led from the front with a sublime 68* off 50, guiding the chase with absolute authority. Calm under pressure and fearless in execution, Pant ensured the team crossed the line in style, hitting three boundaries in the final over.
With this emphatic win, we’re up and running in the TATA IPL 2026. The boys will now look to carry this confidence forward as we gear up to face Kolkata Knight Riders on April 9 in Kolkata, aiming to make it two wins on the trot.
