Lucknow Super Giants pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been named in the 15-member Afghanistan squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the West Indies and the USA next month.

This will be Naveen’s third appearance in the T20 World Cup for Afghanistan, having been part of the team in the 2021 and 2022 editions. The right-arm pacer has eight wickets from six games in the WT20.

Naveen made his T20I debut in 2019 and has been a constant presence in the Afghanistan team from then on. He has played 37 T20Is for Afghanistan getting 46 wickets at an average of 22.08 and an excellent strike rate of 16.00.

At just 24 years, Naveen is a vastly experienced T20 player with 211 wickets from 176 matches in the format. 

Naveen has been part of LSG squad since IPL 2023 and impressed in his maiden season, scalping 11 wickets from eight matches with an economy below eight. His tally included his best IPL figures of 4/38 against Mumbai Indians in the eliminator at Chennai.

The Afghan seamer has continued his good work at the LSG in IPL 2024 with seven wickets from six matches so far this season and has proven an integral part of the squad.
