Rishabh Pant notched up another milestone on Sunday as he became only the third Indian wicketkeeper to complete 150 catches in Test cricket.

The 27-year-old achieved the feat on Day 3 of the first Test against England at Headingley in Leeds when he completed a sharp catch behind the stumps to remove Ollie Pope after Indian fast bowler Prasidh Krishna found the edge.

With the catch, Pant joined an elite list of Indian glovemen to reach the landmark after MS Dhoni and Syed Kirmani.

Pant is now the third most successful wicketkeeper in India’s Test history with a total of 151 catches and 15 stumpings, taking his overall tally of 166 dismissals in 44 Tests (86 innings).

Former captain MS Dhoni is India’s most successful wicketkeeper in Test cricket history with 256 catches in 90 matches, while Syed Kirmani features second on the list with 160 catches in 88 Tests.

During the ongoing Test against England at Headingley, Pant has already shattered a number of records.

Earlier on Friday, Pant etched his name in the history books as he became the fastest Indian wicketkeeper to complete 3,000 runs in Test cricket.

Having reached the milestone in just his 76th Test innings, Pant features second on the overall list, only behind former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist, who achieved the feat in 63 innings.

Later, the flamboyant southpaw registered his seventh Test century on Day 2 to record the most tons by an Indian wicketkeeper in Test cricket.

With his magnificent 134, Pant broke Dhoni’s record of most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper. Dhoni scored six centuries in his Test career.

Pant also emerged as the highest-scoring Asian wicketkeeper-batter in the SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) countries after he overtook Dhoni’s tally of 1,731 runs from 32 Tests.

Meanwhile, England were 327/5 at the end of the first session on Day 3 with Brook (57*) and Smith (29*) at the crease. They trail by 144 runs.

India earlier rode on centuries from captain Shubman Gill (147), vice-captain Pant (134) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (101) to post 471 in their first innings.
