Quinton de Kock shines in the Caribbean with his seventh T20 century
Quinton de Kock, known for lighting up stadiums around the world with his gazab andaz, smashed a sensational century in the CPL for Barbados Royals against Guyana Amazon Warriors at the iconic Kensington Oval.
After the Warriors decided to bowl first, QDK took full advantage, scoring a brilliant 115 off 68 balls and carrying the Royals to a formidable 205/6. De Kock's innings was a masterclass in pacing, starting cautiously with 15 off 17 balls during the powerplay. But once he got his eye in, there was no stopping him!
His calculated assault began in the seventh over when he targeted Shamar Joseph. Despite taking a painful blow to the body, de Kock shook off the discomfort like a true warrior. He reached his half-century off 34 balls and quickly shifted gears, launching massive shots straight down the ground!
Wickets fell around him, but Quinton was batting in his own league. He brought up his second CPL century off 60 balls, smashing more towering sixes before finally departing in the penultimate over. His knock, combined with a late flourish from Jason Holder, set the perfect foundation for the Royals to post a total too hot for the Warriors to chase.
This innings marked QDK’s seventh T20 century, making him only the 13th player in history to achieve this feat. And for us in the IPL, he’s no stranger to big knocks! Remember his monstrous 140* against Kolkata Knight Riders? Yeah, that’s still his highest T20 score!
Quinton de Kock has always been a key asset for us. He is our third-highest scorer with 629 runs from 30 IPL matches at a strike rate of 143.24. Last month, he was named the Men’s ODI Player of the Year at the Cricket South Africa Awards for his stunning performances in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Whether it’s IPL, CPL, or international cricket, QDK just keeps proving why he's one of the game’s most exciting talents. We can’t wait to see what he does next!
