Quinton de Kock named Men’s ODI Player of the Year by Cricket South Africa
Quinton de Kock took home the Men’s ODI Player of the Year award at the Cricket South Africa Awards 2024 held on Thursday.
Quinton was a driving force in South Africa’s ODI World Cup 2023 campaign, racking up a stellar 594 runs across 10 matches at an average of nearly 60, with a strike rate of 107.02.
Though South Africa’s dream run ended in the semi-finals at the hands of eventual champions Australia, Quinton’s brilliance stood out.
QDK finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the tournament, just behind heavyweights Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and signed off from ODI cricket in style.
With centuries in all three formats of international cricket, QDK is a rare talent.
Quinton de Kock is also our third-highest run-scorer in the IPL after KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis. From 30 matches, the southpaw has scored 629 runs at an average of 31.06 and a strike rate of 143.24.
The CSA Awards 2024 acknowledged the accomplishments of the players between May 1, 2023, and April 30, 2024.
Laura Wolvaardt, captain of South Africa's women's cricket team, emerged as the standout at the CSA Annual Awards, securing five accolades, including the prestigious Women's Player of the Year title.
