Our team endured a heartbreak as we could not make it to the playoffs in the IPL 2024. However, we had plenty of positives to carry forward for the next year.

One of the biggest takeaways for us from the season was the stellar performance of Nicholas Pooran, who had a breakout season in IPL 2024.

With 499 runs from 14 matches, Nicky P finished as our second-highest run-getter this year behind captain KL Rahul. The West Indian batter also finished eighth in the highest run-scorers' list for the season.

Pooran’s achievements with the bat are particularly noteworthy, considering he was the only batter in the top-ten list to bat at number five or below in every match except one against the Chennai Super Kings.

A detailed look at his numbers underscores why IPL 2024 has been a standout season for the Trinidadian southpaw. Pooran’s total of 499 runs is his highest in a single IPL season.

Pooran demonstrated remarkable consistency, averaging 62.37 - 24 runs higher than his previous best average of 38.25. His consistency, though, didn't come at the expense of his big-hitting ability, as his strike rate also stands at 178.21, the best in his six-year IPL career.

Pooran has the rare ability to attack bowlers from the first ball. Pooran smashed 36 sixes and 35 fours in IPL 2024 - his highest tally in boundaries compared to previous seasons.

Nicky P was at his destructive best, with over 70% of his total runs coming from fours and sixes, averaging a boundary every 3.94 balls. This season marked his most efficient boundary-hitting performance, surpassing his previous best of a boundary every 3.98 balls.

Pooran has been a great asset for us. The dynamo has shone for us with gazab andaaz in the two seasons, scoring 857 runs. He scored 912 runs in four seasons playing for other teams previously.

With us, Pooran averages just under 43, compared to around 26 with other teams. His strike rate, runs in boundaries, half-centuries, and balls per boundary have all improved significantly (refer to the table below), showing that he is primed to deliver even more for us in the upcoming seasons.
