Mohammad Shami traded in by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2026
Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has joined Lucknow Super Giants for INR 10 crore in the trade window ahead of the Indian Premier League 2026.
Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the 35-year-old has featured in every edition of the competition since 2013, barring 2024, where he was ruled out due to an ankle injury. With 133 wickets in 119 innings, the premier fast bowler has rattled the opposition batting units time and again.

While Shami has shone with the cherry throughout his IPL career, he enjoyed a personal best campaign in 2023, where he won the Purple Cap with the Gujarat Titans following a staggering 28 wickets in 17 fixtures at an economy rate of 8.03.
Talking about his exploits across formats, Mohd. Shami boasts some fantastic numbers - 210 wickets in 176 T20s in addition to 268 wickets in 142 List A matches. Meanwhile, he has also claimed 355 wickets in just 93 first-class games.
As far as the international circuit is concerned, the right-arm seamer has amassed 462 wickets in 197 matches, plying his trade in all three formats.
These statistics speak volumes about Shami’s threat, who is raring to dictate proceedings at the Ekana cricket stadium. Moreover, his skill set is perfectly suited for the conditions on offer at our home, and he will be eager to rule the encounters in extension to his prowess in the powerplay phase.
Notably, Shami bagged 4/22 in seven overs, including two maidens, in Team India’s 100-run triumph over England in the ODI World Cup 2023 held at the Ekana cricket stadium. Hence, it would be safe to say that the fans have already got a glimpse of what’s in store for them in the upcoming season.
We welcome Mohd. Shami to the Super Giants family and wish him the very best for his journey with us!
