Lucknow Super Giants have signed New Zealand fast bowler Will O'Rourke as an injury replacement for Mayank Yadav for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who picked up two wickets in two games in IPL 2025, has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 season due to a back injury.

After a lengthy injury layoff, the 22-year-old speedster earlier made an impressive return to cricket against Mumbai Indians. Mayank dismissed Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya at the Wankhede Stadium. He later featured against Punjab Kings in Dharamsala.

Earlier in 2024, Mayank rose to prominence after he made his IPL debut for the Super Giants.

With his breakneck pace, Mayank hogged the limelight as he picked up seven wickets in just four matches at an average of 12.14 and an economy of 6.99.

Mayank’s replacement, Will O'Rourke, has represented the New Zealand cricket team in all three formats of international cricket.

For the Kiwis, the talented right-arm pacer has already bagged 36 wickets in 10 Tests, 22 scalps in 17 ODIs, and five wickets in as many T20Is.

William O’Rourke has joined the Super Giants family at a reserve price of INR 3 crore.

Meanwhile, the Super Giants have three remaining matches in the IPL 2025 league stage.

The Rishabh Pant-led side will resume their IPL 2025 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Lucknow on May 19, before facing Gujarat Titans (GT) in Ahmedabad on May 22.

The Super Giants will return to Lucknow to play their final home game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 27.
