Lucknow is famous for its mehmaan nawazi or hospitality and when Punjab Kings come visiting this Saturday, Gabbar and Co. will be treated to the very best the city has to offer. However, we’ll be the ones keeping the win and the points.

Our tussle with PBKS will be our first home game of the IPL 2024 and we trust our home fans to bring the thunder at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium. The stage is set and the evening fixture kicks off at 7:30 PM IST.

Though we started this season with a 20-run loss in Jaipur against Rajasthan Royals, we have arrived in Lucknow with our spirits undaunted.

To rally from 11/3 and still give ourselves a fighting chance to chase down 194 against the Royals speaks volumes about the character of our team.

KL Rahul hit the ground running with an elegant 58 off 44 in the first match. A similar knock will see him become the first batter to score 1000 runs for us in the IPL this weekend. Nicholas Pooran’s unbeaten 64 off 41 was nothing short of spectacular. Deepak Hooda also looked good out there.

Quinton de Kock and Devdutt Padikkal will also be raring to make an impact in the game against the Kings.

Naveen-ul-Haq and Krunal Pandya were our pick of the bowlers against the Royals and will bring their unique angles and variations to the table.

News from Punjab Kings camp

Punjab Kings land in Lucknow on the back of a loss against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after winning their opener against Delhi Capitals.

Led by Shikhar Dhawan, PBKS will be expected to rely on Jonny Bairstow at the top and Sam Curran in the all-round department. In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel and Harpreet Brar will be their key men.

LSG vs PBKS history

We have played Punjab Kings three times in the IPL. We beat them in the 2022 season and in 2023, we lost the home game before returning the favour in the reverse fixture in Mohali, where we smashed 257/5 for our highest total in the IPL. Marcus Stoinis top-scored with a 40-ball 72 to help us post the record score in the match that we eventually won by 56 runs.

Stats that matter

  • KL Rahul needs 52 to complete 1000 runs for LSG in the IPL.
  • Quinton de Kock needs 89 to complete 3000 runs in the IPL.
  • Nicholas Pooran needs five sixes to achieve 100 sixes in the IPL.
