In a move sure to excite the LSG Brigade, former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody is all set to join our team as the Global Director of Cricket ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

As part of the new role, Moody will oversee cricket strategy, player auction, player retention and global talent scouting across RPSG’s franchises, which also includes Durban's Super Giants in SA20 competition in South Africa and Manchester Originals in England’s The Hundred cricket league.

“It’s a privilege to accept the role as global director of cricket for the RPSG Group. After positive discussions with Mr Goenka it became very apparent this was an exciting opportunity and I also welcome the chance to work alongside him,” Moody said.

“I look forward to helping build a unified cricketing philosophy across the franchises, driving excellence in performance, player development and strategic planning to ensure continued success on and off the field. I’m excited to work alongside all the players, coaches and management to achieve our goals,” he added.

Moody will join hands with his former Australia teammate and our head coach Justin Langer, and New Zealand legend Kane Williamson, who has recently joined the team as our strategic advisor.

Talking about his cricketing journey, Moody began his first-class career in the 1985/86 season with Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield. He also represented Warwickshire and Worcestershire in England.

Moody later played eight Tests and 76 ODIs for Australia between 1987 and 1999. He was part of two ODI World Cup winning squads in 1987 and 1999.

Following his retirement in 2001, Moody became a broadcaster and a coach.

Nicknamed “Big Tom” for his 1.98-metre height, Moody was the head coach of the Sri Lankan national team and guided them to the 2007 Cricket World Cup final.

Between 2007 and 2010, Moody served as manager and head coach of the Western Australia cricket team.

The 60-year-old is also a familiar face in the IPL, having previously coached Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Moody has also served in various coaching and management roles in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Big Bash League (BBL), Pakistan Super League (PSL) and Global T20 Canada.

With his wealth of experience, Moody will now aim to guide the Super Giants to our maiden IPL title in 2026.
