Lucknow Super Giants’ first outing in the Indian Premier League featured some dazzling moments. From breaking plenty of records in the tournament to delivering some thrilling finishes, we nearly saw it all in a span of two months. The IPL gets bigger and better this season, and so does our LSG family.

Headlining our IPL 2023 auction picks was Nicholas Pooran. The Caribbean batter induced a major bidding war, but we managed to add him to our army. With a strike rate in excess of 140 in 250-plus T20 matches, his swashbuckling presence in the middle order will certainly ease the pressure on our top order.

It’s also worth pointing out that we strengthened the bowling department. Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan shouldered the wicket-taking responsibility last season, picking up 32 scalps between themselves. Mark Wood could not join us last season due to an elbow injury, but the feisty English pacer will be there to assist this year.

With the addition of Naveen-ul-Haq, Daniel Sams, Jaydev Unadkat, Yudhvir Charak, Romario Shepherd and Yash Thakur, skipper KL Rahul has plenty of seam bowling options to experiment with.

We also welcome IPL legend Amit Mishra, who is the leading wicket-taker among Indians in the tournament. Our spin department is further bolstered not just by his experience, but his valuable mentorship for our spinners like Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya and Krishnappa Gowtham.

Three of our batters scored over 450 runs last season, with KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock finishing only behind Jos Buttler in the Orange Cap race. Deepak Hooda’s big hitting, coupled with the experience of Marcus Stoinis, forms the core of our middle order and Pooran’s addition strengthens our cause further.

Pandya and Gowtham can smack the ball a long distance too, and we will be needing plenty of big hits from their willows in 2023. Ayush Badoni made his mark with some sparkling performances and he will be raring to get on the field for his second season in the IPL.

All in all, we have ticked nearly all boxes with our squad selection and it’s now time for execution on the field. This will also be our first season in front of our fans, in our own city.

So #LSGFam, mark your dates, book your tickets, and fasten your seat belts, your Super Giants will arrive soon at the Ekana Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium.
