Two of our very own LSG boys, Nicholas Pooran and Ravi Bishnoi, were amongst the best in the world in T20 cricket last year and both were named in the ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year for 2023.

The ICC Men's T20I Team of the Year was announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the world governing body for the sport, on Monday.

Pooran was in sensational form in 2023, scoring 384 runs in just 13 innings for West Indies, striking at an astonishing rate of 162.71.

The rampaging West Indian’s tally included two half-centuries - a 67 off just 40 balls at the Guyana National Stadium against India and an 82 off 45, his highest score of the year, which came against England at St George's.

Such was Pooran’s consistency over the course of the season that he reached double figures in 10 of his 13 innings.

Bishnoi, meanwhile, proved to be a lynchpin of India’s spin attack last year with 18 wickets in just 11 outings. His strike rate was an impressive 17.61 while the economy rate read just over 7.

The crafty spinner was at the heart of India’s campaign at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and played a pivotal role in helping the Men in Blue win a historic gold medal. He also logged his best figures of the year, a 3/24, against Nepal in the quarter-finals.

A fantastic home series against Australia also saw Bishnoi end last year as the world No. 1 T20I bowler in the ICC rankings.

Both Pooran and Bishnoi were central in our push to the playoffs in IPL 2023 and we’ll be counting on many more class acts from the duo in the coming season.
