The boys will be gunning for our fourth straight win of the season when we face the Delhi Capitals at the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday.

A victory may also see us go to the top of the IPL 2024 points table.

Rajasthan Royals currently top the IPL 2024 table with eight points from five matches and a net run rate of +0.871. We’re third on the standings with six points from four games and an NRR of +0.775.

Beating DC, by a decent margin, should be enough for us to level RR on points and leapfrog them based on a superior net run rate.

Our batting and bowling units seem well-oiled for the contest against DC, who are languishing at the bottom of the points table. However, DC’s win against defending champions CSK showed their potential and with crucial two points at stake, our squad is all geared up to deliver their best in Lucknow.

In our previous match, KL and Stoinis rose to the challenge and set us up for a strong total against GT. Late flourish by Nicholas Pooran and brilliant bowling from Yash Thakur, Krunal Pandya and Ravi Bishnoi sealed a fantastic 33-run win and brought an end to a four-match losing streak against the Titans.

Now, against DC, it’s time to ensure we keep our winning streak going. We have faced DC three times in the past two seasons and have never been beaten.

Despite doubts over our speedster Mayank Yadav’s availability, the presence of Naveen-ul-Haq, Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya and Yash Thakur means we have our bases covered in the bowling department.

Pooran, our leading run-scorer this season, is also ready to wreak havoc and continue his impressive form. The presence of KL, QDK and Stoinis only adds to the opposition bowlers’ woes.

News from DC camp

DC have plenty of talent in their squad with Rishabh Pant leading from the front. The opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner and in-form Tristan Stubbs have the potential to rock any attack but our bowling line-up is well-equipped to throw a spanner in their works.

DC’s pace department also has the experience of Anrich Nortje, Khaleel Ahmed and Ishant Sharma in their ranks. However, they also have injury concerns heading into this game with question marks over the availability of Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh.

LSG vs DC history

Mark Wood returned with figures of 5/14 to become the first Super Giant bowler to take a fifer in the IPL history when we faced DC last year. We won that contest by a healthy margin of 50 runs after scoring 193/6.

The contest at Ekana was one of our three wins against DC in the IPL. We’re yet to face a defeat in this fixture.

In IPL 2022, we beat them by six wickets while chasing 150 in our first-ever head-to-head clash in Navi Mumbai. We followed it up by defending 195 in Mumbai where KL and Deepak Hooda starred with half-centuries before Mohsin Khan’s 4/16 sealed the six-run victory.

Stats that matter

  • Marcus Stoinis is 4 sixes away from completing 50 sixes for LSG
  • KL Rahul needs 3 sixes to complete 300 sixes in T20s
