Following India’s comprehensive victory, here are some of the stats highlights from the Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
India’s record-extending ninth Asia Cup title
India clinched their ninth Asia Cup title (ODIs and T20Is combined), the most in tournament’s history. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the Men in Blue previously won the inaugural T20 Asia Cup title in 2016. This was India’s second T20 Asia Cup crown. India have also been crowned Asia Cup champions in the ODI format in 1984, 1988, 1991, 1995, 2010, 2018 and 2023.
Men in Blue’s unbeaten run in Asia Cup 2025
Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India were deservedly crowned the Asia Cup 2025 champions after their dominant run in the recently concluded T20 tournament. India won all their seven matches in the Asia Cup 2025, including a Super Over victory over Sri Lanka in a Super Fours clash. Interestingly, India have now finished unbeaten in three of the last five Asia Cup tournaments.
India’s supremacy in multilateral tournaments in recent times
The Indian cricket team has remained unbeaten in their last 17 completed T20Is in multi-nation competitions since 2023. The Men in Blue registered two victories in the Asian Games 2023, recorded eight wins in the T20 World Cup 2024 and claimed seven victories in the Asia Cup 2025.
Abhishek hogs limelight with the bat
India’s flamboyant opening batter, Abhishek Sharma, finished as the leading run-scorer in the Asia Cup 2025. The 25-year-old southpaw amassed 314 runs in seven matches at an average of 44.85 and a strike rate of 200, including three fifties to his name.
Kuldeep scripts history in Asia Cup 2025
India’s star spinner Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the top wicket-taker in the Asia Cup 2025. The 30-year-old bagged 17 wickets in seven games at an average of 9.29 and an economy of 6.27. With 17 scalps, Kuldeep also broke the record for the most wickets in a single Asia Cup edition by a full-member player. Bangladesh pacer Al-Amin Hossain previously held the record with 11 wickets in 2016. Additionally, Kuldeep is now the all-time highest wicket-taker in Asia Cup history (ODIs + T20Is combined). He has now picked up 36 wickets in 18 matches in the Asia Cup.
Shivam Dube: India’s lucky charm
India’s talented all-rounder Shivam Dube has been a lucky charm for India in T20 internationals. India have been unbeaten in their previous 34 completed T20Is whenever Shivam has featured in the playing XI since December 2019.
