All you need to know ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction
The highly-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Mega Auction is set to take place from November 24 to 25 at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The IPL 2024 Player Auction took us to Dubai last year, however, the upcoming Mega Auction is poised to be different and offers us a chance to build the core for a quality squad in a similar manner to our first-ever auction in 2022.
Ahead of the Mega Auction in Jeddah, we opted to retain our fav five players - Nicky P, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni.
Nicky P (₹21 crore), Mayank Yadav (₹11 crore) and Ravi Bishnoi (₹11 crore) were our capped retained players while Mohsin Khan (₹4 crore) and Ayush Badoni (₹4 crore) were our uncapped picks.
After spending a combined ₹51 crore to retain our fav five, we are now left with a ₹69 crore purse to splurge on a maximum of 20 players during the Mega Auction.
Apart from our ₹69 crore purse, we also have one RTM (Right to Match) card that will let us buy back one of our released players should we choose to match the highest bid for the player in question during the auction.
A grand pool of 1574 players, including 1165 Indians and 409 overseas talents registered for the auction before they were shortlisted to 574 players, out of which 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including three players from associate nations.
We have a minimum of 13 and a maximum of 20 player slots to fill in our squad, including up to seven overseas talents since Nicky P is already a part of our plans for the upcoming season.
Needless to say, our plan is set and our Gazab Andaz is ready to take centre-stage at the Mega Auction in Jeddah.
