Lucknow Super Giants secured a comprehensive seven-wicket victory against Chennai Super Kings in our 12th match of TATA IPL 2026, avenging the earlier defeat emphatically.

Opting to field first, Akash Singh, featuring in his first game of the season, made an immediate impact with a fiery spell in the powerplay. He struck twice early on, dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson to leave the opposition reeling.

By the end of six overs, CSK were restricted to 37/2, courtesy of his aggressive and incisive bowling. Akash wasn’t done yet, as he returned to claim the wicket of Urvil Patel, finishing with outstanding figures of 3/26 and firmly setting the tone for the innings.

The bowling unit rallied around him brilliantly. Mohammad Shami and Shahbaz Ahamad chipped in with crucial wickets, while Mayank Yadav delivered a superbly economical spell, conceding just 26 runs in his four overs, including 12 dot balls that kept the pressure intact. Despite an aggressive 71 off 42 balls from Kartik Sharma, CSK were limited to 187/5.

In reply, Lucknow Super Giants came out with intent and authority. Mitchell Marsh led the charge with another breathtaking assault, racing to a 21-ball fifty, highlighted by a stunning 28-run fifth over in the powerplay. Shortly, LSG stormed to 86/0 in six overs, putting the chase firmly on track.

Marsh continued his dominance, smashing 90 off just 38 deliveries with nine fours and seven sixes in a knock that brought the crowd to its feet.

Josh Inglis provided solid support with a steady 36 off 32, before Nicholas Pooran arrived to finish things in style. The Southpaw unleashed his trademark power, smashing four consecutive sixes at the start of the 17th over to seal the victory in spectacular fashion.

While the Playoffs race may be out of reach, this all-round performance was a powerful statement of intent, reflecting the team’s fearless approach. The boys will look to register another W when we travel to Jaipur to face the Rajasthan Royals in our upcoming encounter on May 19.
