TATA IPL 2026: CSK vs LSG report - Heartbreak at Chepauk
Lucknow Super Giants went down by five wickets against Chennai Super Kings in our 11th match of TATA IPL 2026.
Put in to bat first, Josh Inglis lit up the innings with a breathtaking display of power-hitting right from the outset. The right-handed batter raced to a blistering half-century in just 17 deliveries, gracing the boundary with six fours and four towering sixes.
Riding on his early assault, the Super Giants registered our highest-ever powerplay total, racing to 91/1 in the first six overs. Inglis continued to dominate before eventually departing for a scintillating 85 off just 33 balls, leaving the side in a commanding position.
The middle phase saw steady contributions that ensured the momentum didn’t dip. A crucial 50-run partnership for the seventh wicket between Himmat Singh and Shahbaz Ahamad added valuable runs towards the back end.
Shahbaz, in particular, impressed with a fluent unbeaten 43 off 25 deliveries, guiding the innings through the final stretch as Lucknow Super Giants posted a competitive 203/8.
In response, Chennai Super Kings managed to keep pace with the required rate, capitalising on scoring opportunities through the innings. Digvesh Rathi provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Sanju Samson in the powerplay, while Shahbaz Ahamad chipped in with key wickets, including those of Ruturaj Gaikwad and Urvil Patel, who scored a stunning 65 off 23.
The bowlers did show glimpses of control in the middle overs, but the chase remained within reach for the hosts.
Despite Avesh Khan’s late wicket, Chennai Super Kings crossed the line in the final over to seal the win. While the result didn’t go in our favour, the batting display, led by Inglis, stood out as a major positive.
The Rishabh Pant-led side will look to make amends when we host CSK at Ekana on May 15.
